Ｆａｌｌｉｎｇ ｆｏｒ Ｆａｌｌ

It has been such a long time since I’ve updated its embarassing!   To be honest, I’ve really missed doing these blog posts.  However, sometimes seasons get in the way.  Spring and Summer are actually the two most difficult seasons for me.  I think, personally, it’s because the apparel that most people wear in the summer really just doesn’t agree with me.   With as much skin as I’ve shown in the past, its shocking to some people to find out that my typical style is really rather conservative.   I love baggy, loose clothing, long sleeves, and scarves.   I’m guessing you know what that means.

Fall is my -favorite- season.

Fall is the perfect time to blend lengthy sleeves with tights and knee high socks for the ultimate cute and sexy look.  I’m pretty sure I’ve said it before, but tights and socks are among some of my greatest weaknesses in Second Life.   Pairing some cute knee highs with some trendy flats, shorts, and a long sleeved shirt can really wake up those fall senses, staying brisk, but not too warm!

Today’s look of the day was inspired by a lot of London Fashion.  My family is British and sometimes its painfully obvious in my personal tastes.   Red and black tones paired with scarves, tall boots, and even checkered patterns often times screams London to me.  While I originally wanted to wear a black and white tartan skirt in this outfit, I found that the black skirt in the end looked much better, uncomplicating the look for a simple easy on the eyes appearance.  So instead I decided to get my checkered stripes through my scarf.  Its hard to see but the scarf is black and grey plaid.   I’ve been looking for a longer mesh scarf for a long time and I was absolutely thrilled to find Fate Wear’s “Harry” scarves which come in an array of lengths and styles, something which I plan to blog again at a later date.  Seriously, you can never have enough scarves!

So, with that out of the way… lets hope with my two favorite seasons drifting in soon, that more frequent posts are to follow!!

Okay, so all craziness aside, I haven’t updated in well… pretty much a month.  Hell, if it were February (even a leap year!) I could already say this month had passed with all but ONE blog post.  I’m slacking and I know it.  Its not because I don’t want to blog, because I do, trust me.  Its just that currently I am not only lacking inspiration, but subject matter too.

Sure, I’ve come up with some cute stuff lately on Flickr, but its nothing really fashion worthy that I feel has the need to be blogged. Ohhh Arcade, where are you when I need you??

OH! HEY! …Right around the corner apparently. The last Arcade took me (and my -read Sei’s- wallet) by surprise. I think between the two of us we dropped somewhere around 10,000 Linden on Gatchas.  I still don’t think we’ve recovered.  Which is why we weren’t really counting on this Arcade being any where near as awesome as the last.

…I think we drastically underestimated the event.  If all the previews I’m seeing on Flickr live up to their awesomeness, this Arcade could be (by far) wayyy more awesome than the last.  Pretty sure the last two weeks we spent preaching to ourselves about how we weren’t going to drop a ton of Lindens at the June Arcade were completely in vain.  My wallet is losing sleep over the fact that the Arcade is quickly becoming one of my favorite events in Second Life.

So to help with at least organizing how I’ll go about the Arcade I’ve compiled somewhat of an “Arcade Shopping List.”  Its like Grocery Shopping… but what you get is completely random.  …Which makes me wonder how much this list is really going to help.  BUT ITS ORGANIZED! And!! It might help you!~

La Petite Morte’s kitty has recently become exceedingly sick, and her health is deteriorating quickly. Given as they have just moved they have no spare money to get her any more help than the one vet check up that they’ve already done. Unable to get help with payment plans from local vets they’ve come to us looking for help!

2 Million Linden Donated!!

Fantasy Faire in Second Life is like putting eight Disney Worlds together and saying “Here, go explore, go have fun.” And best of all… you’re doing it for a great cause. The Drax Files have done a wonderful job compiling and explaining what Fantasy Faire is in Second Life if you’ve never visited the online world, or are curious as to what all the designer stress for me has lead up to. So far in the first 25 hours we’ve raised EIGHT THOUSAND USD for Relay for Life. The faire goes on for a total of seven more days. Can you say you were part of this cause yet?

Public access begins at 6am SLT today (4/20) and we hope that you’ll come and visit us and all the other Fantasy Faire designers in support of a great cause, Relay for Life and the fight against cancer!

Also! Look for me!~ I’ll be roaming the faire grounds all day being social, shopping, taking pictures, and enjoying the sights! Don’t be shy, feel free to say hello and ask me questions. ❤ I’ll most likely be wearing my mage get up as pictured, but these kinds of events cause me to change outfits multiple times. Fantasy Faire Prep Week: Day 2

Every day. Yeah, I lived up to that one quick huh?

Wanna know how out of sorts the Faire has had me? When I made the last post… I thought it was already Monday. I was a day ahead of myself. Ah well. We’re back to the daily blogging grind right? RIGHT?!

Right. I would have blogged yesterday, but you see, I was bit out of sorts. Monday night captivated me on Livestream for 12 making Owl Plushies, and sorting out the rest of my pose posters and stuff. …Descriptive, I know.

I had started streaming somewhere around 10pm Monday night, and finished streaming around 10:30 Tuesday morning. Soon after, to relieve the stress and pressure from the previous night my Husband treated me out to Sushi. Upon the return home I crashed for six hours, woke up around 4pm, and was up until 3am working on Fantasy Faire stuff yet again.

Since then, I have slept eleven and a half hours. Only to wake up, and assist Sei with some Fantasy Faire opinions and advice. I spent a couple of hours watching some Final Fantasy XIV:ARR news from their youtube (since I found out yesterday I have access to this weekend’s beta) and promptly finished a picture for this blog post, which… I’m actually exceedingly proud of.

I remember on Monday I had a lot of things I wanted to touch on for this blog post, but to be honest… I can’t remember a single one. I imagine its going to be like that for the rest of the week.

I’m feeling like a zombie slightly. Monster White (Zero Ultra) has become my replacement for water, and I’m slowly making my way towards the last step of completing my projects. Boxing and writing instructions that few people will ever read.

Strawberry Singh recently started a Meme that caught my attention.  A LOT of people ask me about my name.  There are crazy people who have made up rumors as to why I have my name (That were unbelievably false. O.o)  So I’m here to clear the smoke and air out the dirty laundry. Who is Ingkeu Soonkyu and why is she called what she’s called? More at 11…

OOPS! I mean right now!~

• What’s your SL name? Ingkeu (Ing-que) or (Ink-oo) (Click the links to hear how they’re pronounced.)

• What made you choose this name? My submissive name is Ink, which in Korean translates to Ingkeu. Inku is a more pronounceable name that murders the translation a little bit, but is easier for people to read and speak. Soonkyu is borrowed from one of my Korean role models Sunny Soonkyu (Lee Soonkyu), for being as sweet and outgoing as she is. I was very very shy a year ago and I used her name in hopes that it would inspire me to branch out and not be as shy as I was. So far it has helped! She’s been a good influence, especially since she was the shy one for a long while too.

• What’s your SL nickname, or what do most people call you? Lots and lots and lots of people call me Ink. And outside of Ingkeu, I love it. Its cute and the name has really fit me for a long time!

• What’s your SL display name? Why do you choose to have one? (if applicable) Ingkeu Soonkyu. I chose a display name because I didn’t want to have IngkeuSoonkyu.Resident as a Second Life name. So I split it up. Also, if I just want to default back to Ingkeu, its really easy now. Occasionally my display name is Ink!

• Do you like your SL name? I love it. ;3

• If you could change your SL name, what would it be? I would only change it if I could pick my own last name, which no doubt would be Soonkyu.

• What’s the craziest/funniest SL name you’ve ever seen? I’ve seen a lot of them, but I’ve never written them down, so I can’t really remember.

• What’s the coolest (your favorite) SL name you’ve ever seen? This goes hand in hand with what I said above. I’ve been playing SL since 2005. Its really hard to remember anything like this when you’ve seen as many as I have.

Fantasy Faire Prep Week: Day 1

Looking way better than I feel!

 

For the last two years the event that has stolen my heart in Second Life has been Fantasy Faire. The immersive and gorgeous sims each ranging with their own fantasy theme. The exclusive products. The quality designers, events, and activities. Its enough to put stars in ones eyes for the entire eight day span of the Faire.

This time last year I was visiting the faire wondering what it would be like to be one of those many Fantasy Faire designers, and how awesome it would be to take part in such an amazing event. Well, now I’m here doing it and I’m going to share with you the ups and downs, stress and joy, of being a designer in such a huge event.

This week I’m going to do a special event where I’ll be blogging each day right up until the start of the Faire. Keep in mind that the Faire is, for lack of a better phrase, pretty much under NDA until the Early Access Bloggers have their way with it on the 19th. Word has it that the Fantasy Faire sims that are online are sooo secret that they merely have giant pink lawn flamingos in them. IE: They’re not even up and running yet.

So where am I? What am I doing? I am pulling out my hair strand by strand and stressing until I’m blue in the face. As a FF designer, I have deadlines, and I’ve had these deadlines since March. But as some of you may know, inspiration is a fickle thing. In many ways its like a cat. It comes and goes when it pleases, demands to be fed at five am in the morning when you’re dreaming peacefully, and occasionally asks to be let out so that it may run rampant on a blank SL canvas. It can disappear for days at a time and sleep for any amount of God given hours in a day. Or at least, this seems to be how mine works and like a cat, I seem to be most creative in the wee hours of the morning. I’m neglecting to mention the frazzled and disturbing image of myself, eyes blood shot and caffeine hung over after “inspiration” has had its way with me and smoked a cat nip joint.

Here it is, the last week, the final deadline, and I feel as if I’m only now getting started. Of course, this hasn’t been for lack of trying. All procrastination aside, I spent countless wasted hours trying desperately to come up with ideas as for what I wanted to do for the faire. The first thing I managed to come up with was reawakening an old idea and presenting the food trays. Luckily, it seems as if it’ll work.

Item one down. Yet, that never seems like enough. Bringing one item to the faire, even if its technically three versions? NOPE. Not enough. Now we’re back to square one all over again.

So what do you do when you’re out of inspiration and struggling like a mad woman?

You learn something new. What did I decide to learn? Poses. Why? Because I needed to create a holding pose for my trays. Safe to say, that’s been accomplished. …And then some. It occurred to me in the midsts of my pose creation that I should do more.

And more was done. In a grand total of ten hours I have successfully taught myself how to create poses, and Sei tells me I’m not half bad at it. So outside of the many flop poses I made, I now have two sets of five poses ready for the faire along with one three person pose and one couples pose. Though I haven’t decided entirely if those will accompany us to the faire. I’m debating.

The entire ten hours that I put forth into learning poses and doing all the pictures for them was spent without break (excluding getting food) and I Livestreamed the whole event. Its nice though, that through designing for an event like this I have found a new hobby. I Find that I actually quite fancy creating poses. They’re fun, and new!

I think all of that took place yesterday. I was up for 24+ hours, and at that point time just seems to blur together. I was also hyped on three different energy drinks and equivalently brought on the amusing stupid to go with it on the stream.

What’s going on today? My favorite word. Re cooperation. Recovery. Rest. Today’s drink diet consists of WATER and only water as I try and purge my system and rest. Because what happens tomorrow? The same thing that happened yesterday and this will most likely be my pattern right up until the Faire.

Get vintage!

Go vintage. Go vintage. Go vintage. My mind has been screaming it all week! Okay okay, Brain, I hear you. I cave, I cave. So I did. I went vintage. Meaning, I’m not wearing any mesh in this picture. I took vintage to a new Second Life level.

I’m pretty much a dinosaur in SL these days. I’ve been hanging around the Linden world since 2005. You know what that means? Scary enough, I predate not only Windlight, but sculpts. That’s right. We didn’t even have sculpts. These were the days where SL went down for maintenance every Tuesday instead of just rolling restarts. Pleasant eh? Yeah. We’ve come a long way, baby.

I love mesh. It adds that smoothness I’ve always craved in Second Life. But, I’ll admit, I have a love hate relationship with it. It doesn’t always fit, creators don’t always rig it properly, and well, deformers can be a down right pain. Some days it actually leaves me missing the days when the best you could buy were sculpts. Sculpts which you could edit prim by prim to fit exactly how you wanted, or better yet, mod into something even better. Mesh has a lot of potential, but some days it hinders us too.

So I took a step back. I wanted to dive back into some oldies and make a stunningly cute look that wasn’t mesh for todays fashion gurus. The amusing part? I haven’t been this satisfied with an outfit in a long while.

The bulk of this outfit comes from Mon Tissu. Its part of their older line and I’ve always loved their flirty (yet classy) lace and preppy looks. Unfortunately, a lot of their mesh has never quite fit me right. Regardless, I adore both the new and the old products.

Accessorize me, baby. You’ve heard me say it time and time again. Accessories are your best friends! Just, don’t over do it. My favorites are usually a necklace, earrings, glasses, and some sort of cute clutch, purse, or backpack. Necklaces (especially the long ones), can really pull an outfit together some times. If you’re feeling bare, try adding one with a cute pendant or printed charm. Gold, silver, brass, it doesn’t matter, if it matches the outfit, its going to look good.

If you’re having trouble finding those oh-so-perfect lenses, then its time you take a trip over to K_gs. They have so many unique and cute styles, both for men and women. You really can’t go wrong there. My favorite pair happens to be a sculpted pair I’ve had for the better portion of a year now. They’re called Rasa, and they really rock my world. Color change lenses and frames, both nose and forehead positions for your glasses, I mean you really can’t go wrong. And if you want to look really cute and sassy, edge them down your nose a bit and give them a little tilt. It’ll look like you’re peering over the brim of them often.

Its time to get your Spring on!

Jade of Jadezilla caught me today for a nice little chat.   I’ve really been overworking myself lately and it shows now that I woke up this morning sick as a dog.  It was amusing, and thanks to Jade I think I’ve now realized that I don’t really understand what the word “rest” really means.  That’s what you do when you’re sick right?  You lay down before you hurt yourself, and sleep it off?

I’m a workaholic of the worst type when it comes to Second Life.  Sure I procrastinate like anyone else for given periods of time, but when I get into that work mind set, it rapes me like a drunken party victim and hangs me out to dry for the next few days.  I lose sleep, work for ungodly amounts of hours, and I just don’t stop until I’ve run myself down so much that I’m forced to.  See, I’m sick, and I’m still sitting here blogging.

When I was a little girl I was the same way. Sometimes my Parents would literally have to pry the homework out of my cold sick little fingers just so that I would be forced to rest.   Unfortunately my Hubby may do the same thing to me tonight when he gets home.  Or maybe that’s fortunate?

Regardless, sick, not sick, busy, not busy, here I am blogging and its almost APRIL!  Can you believe that? Where did February and March go?  I swear I blinked and then they disappeared.  Despite it not getting warmer where I’m living, I’ve had a distinct craving for spring, flirty, pastel colored clothing.  For two weeks now I’ve been itching to get that ‘just right’ early spring outfit, and my God, I may have finally accomplished it!

WITH PINK!  …Big surprise right?  Yeah, yeah, I know.  I’m a glutton for it.  Pink this, pink that, pink pink pink, everywhere pink. /straightface.  What? I like pink.

❥ Ｓｐｒｉｎｇｉｎｇ ｉｎｔｏ Ａｃｔｉｏｎ!

I’ve had this adorable little crochet sweater from Monso for ages now and haven’t found the right opportunity to flaunt it yet.  Spring, however, has completely fixed that for me.  It was perfect, like the star shining bright in my inventory I knew the season had come into play for it just perfectly.

But what in the heck do you wear under it? O.o

I admit, I’ve never rocked crochet before.  So, this bit was a little challenge for me.  For those of you who haven’t worn items like this let me suggest a few things.   Keep it flirty.  Show a bit of skin.  It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to wear something long sleeved with something long sleeved.   Find a cute tube top, tank top, navel showing sweater… Something adorable like that.  Then if its colored crochet, keep the coloring simple.  Go with white or black, or a color that nicely compliments the tone your wearing.  Also, quarter length sleeves tends to match really well with a crochet style like the one I’m wearing.  It helps show off your wrists, which in my opinion is a very sensual part of the female figure.  Most women have dainty, sensitive wrists, which men over centuries have found appealing. In real life, this is also an area that’s used frequently to apply perfume, a cute little snippet you can use for RP when flaunting an outfit like this.

Its quickly becoming a stocking free society so shave those legs ladies!  Haven’t you missed the feeling of fresh air on smooth legs?  Air out those short shorts and cute skirts, pairing them with a nice set of heels can be the perfect ensemble for spring!~  This time around I went an alternate route for shoes.  Two things I can’t live without in Second Life are my Slink feet and hands.  Seriously, since I bought them I have not been able to stand returning to the SL default feet and hands.   I found recently that Slink retails certain pairs of shoes and sandals for the feet.  Before this I only wore their flat feet.  I’ll be honest, tip-toe feet in second life really kind of irk me.  When I see them, they make me wince, because all I can do is imagine walking on the balls of my feet barefoot all the time and how much it would hurt!  So up until recently I’ve tried to avoid them like the plague.   That is, until I found out that some of the mesh high heels from Slink were actually paired to fit these feet!

Another pet peeve of mine is the way SL textured feet look in high heels, so the opportunity to slip my slink feet on and plunge them into a pair of sexy platforms… well, I was all over it like a herd of walkers on Lori. (Walking Dead reference).  So finally, there was some rationalization for picking up tip-toe feet outside of JUST photography.  I was actually kinda stoked about that!
